Heroes Come in All Sizes

I’m always on the lookout for stories and tips to provide our residents with a better understanding of police work and the dangers we face every time we put on a badge.

Yesterday, I caught an article in the Fresno Bee that was so inspiring, I thought I’d share it with you. It’s about a Tuesday shootout involving Fresno County Deputy Sheriffs and a suspect wielding an AR-15 rifle. This is a wonderful example of peace officers, community members, and one brave K-9 coming together to protect our streets and neighborhoods.

Enjoy, and stay safe out there.

  1. WOW! I guess thats what it's like to have a newspaper that writes supportive articles about the police!! The Merc would be immediately be questoning police tactics, and spinning some story about how the suspect was "turning his life around" and he only wanted the "Amrican Dream" when he illegally immigrated here....

Amazing story of survival and of heroism on the parts of all those involved! Glad to hear all the officers are still alive and doing well. Stay safe!!!

  2. Bless the Officers involved and the people who helped in such a horrific situation. The true heroes are the ones running into a situation where everyone else is running away, in order to bring calm and restore peace. They stopped a shooter from shooting innocent people and risked their lives. Does the Fresno Bee deliver to San Jose?.....I need a good newspaper.
